At TideWise, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
TideWise requests access to your device's location to find nearby tide stations and provide local tide and weather information. You can also select a station manually. Your location and selected station coordinates are sent to our servers and relevant tide, weather and mapping providers to obtain local information. We do not sell your location data.
We store your app preferences locally on your device, including:
To associate your device with its TideWise Pro subscription, we send a platform-provided or locally generated device identifier to our subscription management provider (RevenueCat):
When a platform identifier is unavailable or unsuitable, the app can generate an identifier stored locally on your device. These identifiers do not contain your name or email address, but they are pseudonymous, not fully anonymous. The subscription identifier is also shared with PostHog and Sentry to associate usage, purchase outcomes and diagnostics from the same device. It is transmitted using HTTPS and is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
We use PostHog for product analytics and Sentry for error reporting. Usage and diagnostic data are transmitted to these providers to improve the app and investigate problems, including:
PostHog may also record app interactions for session replay when that feature is enabled. Pseudonymous data can be linked to the same device and is not fully anonymous. We do not use these services for advertising.
When you choose to send feedback about an announcement, we store your message, the announcement identifier, your app version, the submission time, and an email address only if you provide one. This information is stored in our Supabase database and is available to the developer, not other app users. We use it to understand feedback, investigate issues, improve TideWise, and reply if you request a response. The email address is not used for marketing. You can use the app without submitting feedback or providing an email.
Feedback remains stored until deleted; there is currently no automatic expiry. To request deletion, contact trev@tidewise.co.uk with enough information to locate your submission, such as its approximate date and message. Clearing app storage does not delete feedback already submitted.

RevenueCat: We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions. We share the following information with RevenueCat:
RevenueCat processes this information in accordance with their Privacy Policy. Payment processing itself is handled entirely by Apple App Store and Google Play Store — we do not store or have access to your payment card details.
PostHog: Product analytics and session replay when enabled. Sentry: Crash reports and error diagnostics. Supabase: Backend processing, announcement feedback and briefing caching.
Your preferences and saved locations are stored locally on your device. Usage events, diagnostic records, feedback and information needed to provide forecasts and briefings are also transmitted as described above. API communications with our services and providers use HTTPS. We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information, but please be aware that no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
Local data is stored until you uninstall the app or clear app data. Analytics and diagnostic records are retained by our service providers according to the configured retention settings. Uninstalling does not delete records already transmitted. Contact trev@tidewise.co.uk to request access or deletion of data associated with your device or feedback submission.

TideWise is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.
TideWise is available worldwide. Information may be processed in countries where our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.
IMPORTANT: TideWise provides tide predictions, weather forecasts, and marine data for informational purposes only. This information should not be used as the sole basis for navigation or safety decisions.
